Floridians searching for an experienced and compassionate practitioner in the field of Medical Marijuana will find what they are looking for at Kaya Life. Our team of specialized practitioners puts their heart and soul into ensuring our patients receive the care and compassion they require. We understand how it is difficult to find a dedicated and reliable medical marijuana doctor in Florida; that is why we are here to take care of you.

Introducing your very own Medical Marijuana Clinician, Stephanie Johnson, D.O., the founder of Kaya life. She believes in taking advantage of natural treatment through the use of medical marijuana to make the life of people easier and more comfortable. While talking about her journey to this point, she said, “We worked together and learned all the details surrounding treatment with medical marijuana. They are significant and need to be known.  At Kaya Life, we treat real people with real problems with real medicine.”

How is Kaya Life Different?

At Kaya Life, we assist our patients throughout their entire journey of medical marijuana use.  It begins with a consultation that discusses their medical condition, personal lifestyle, and goals of treatment.  We then provide a recommendation of what types of products to buy and how to take them.  Then we assist our patients with the application process through the State of Florida Medical Mariuana Use Registry (OMMU).  It doesn’t end there, 70 days into treatment, we follow up with our patients to make sure they are achieving the relief they are looking for. We value our patients the most, that is why our processes at Kaya Life are patient-centric.

Medical Marijuana as a Holistic Medicine

Holistic medicines like Cannabis focus on finding balance between the mind and body. Medical Marijuana is an ideal medicine as it greatly impacts the endocannabinoid system (ECS) of the body. The ECS and its associated cannabinoid receptors (mainly CB1 and CB2) are linked with maintaining homeostasis or ‘balance’ in the body. Marijuana Clinicians like those at Kaya Life advocate treatment with MMJ as a method for patients to achieve improved balance of the mind and body.

Marijuana was first used in ancient China.  In 2900 BC, Emperor Fu Hsi noted that cannabis was a popular medicine that possessed both yin and yang.  Marijuana was known to have been used in many ancient Eastern societies and was brought to the US in the 19th Century.

Cannabis was described in the United States Pharmacopoeia in 1850.  It was removed from the Pharmacopoeia in 1942.

Medical marijuana is still a Federally Illegal substance. Therefore physicians are not allowed to prescribe it to their patients. Only a qualified licensed doctor in a state with an MMJ program can write a ‘recommendation’ permitting the use of medical marijuana.

Kaya Life has a team of knowledgeable licensed practitioners who work with patients to help them utilize medical marijuana as a natural holistic treatment to find wellness and balance, just as societies have been doing since 2900 BC.

Medical Marijuana Clinician Profiles

Dr. Johnson graduated from an osteopathic school where she was taught the key to wellness is “to treat our bodies as a whole mind, body, and spirit,” and, from there, went on to attend one of only five dually accredited Emergency Medicine Residences in the country, Michigan State University. Training at a Level-1 trauma center, she learned some of the life-changing lessons in the field of medicine.

After graduating from residency in 2009, Dr. Johnson moved to the Emerald Coast, where she practiced as a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physician for over a decade. Over the years, witnessing the opiate crisis firsthand and the shortcomings of conventional healthcare, she knew she needed to do something else to try and help people suffering without hope or relief.  As she began treating patients with medical marijuana, the feedback from her patients was consistently, “thank you for giving me my life back.”  She quickly came to realize that marijuana helps change lives, and it helps save lives.  As Dr. Johnson transitioned from saving lives in the ER to caring for patients with cannabis, she was able to continue to find joy in making a difference in the lives of others without the complexities of the ER.

Self-taught through over 4,000 pages and conferencing with other cannabis clinicians, she began providing cannabis consultations just 27 days after the new law of legalization of medical marijuana in Florida was passed in November of 2016. Dr. Johnson started by solely treating cancer patients and slowly expanded her practice to cover each qualifying condition.

After just two years, she doubled the practice, opened a second location in Panama City, and served over a thousand patients.

Attributable to her amazing staff, Kaya Life continued to grow, and a third office was opened in Pensacola, FL in 2021.  Since its inception, the exceptional team has treated over 5,000 patients.
