As an undergraduate, Dr. Johnson attended Gannon University in Erie, Pennsylvania, graduating with a degree in biology. She continued to the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine, also in Erie, where she received her medical degree. As an osteopath, Dr. Johnson is committed to healing her patients as fully realized people, not simply a list of symptoms.

After medical school, Dr. Johnson completed an internship at the Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, Michigan. To complete her training, she performed a residency in emergency medicine at Michigan State University.
